I have the great honour to introduce to the romanian public a great Romni poetess, Lilith Mazikina from Russia. She is a very known Romni/Gypsy woman in Russia, but practically unknown in Romania. Her russian dialect of Romani is very interesting, and for a great importance for our indian heritage. The next poem is ”about unhappily inloved girl”, and for me was very touching. The english translation was made by Miss Lilith. For the Romanian gypsies would be for great interest to see that our Romani language is the same in Russia as is it in Romania.
Tele dikhel,/ She looks down
nane late zor /she has no strength
te arakhel /to hide
jilo peskro xor /her heart deep
ov dro jakha/ it is in her eyes
xačola, nango;/ burns, nakes
bare dukha /big pain
lidžal, nabango.../ stands, [though] innocent...
Pal cimbli tu /Behind eyelashes
garav les, garav!/ hide it, hide
mek lengre thu/ let their smoke
čorel tero lav./ steal your name.
